Read Luke 10:26-37
What are some characteristics of The Robber?
What is The Robber concerned about? What motivates a robber?
What might be some characteristics of The Priest and the Levite?
What might The Priest and Levite be concerned with?
What scenario might The Priest and Levite be willing to help?
What are some characteristics of the Samaritan?
What is the Samaritan concerned about?
What motivates the Samaritan to help the beaten man?
Where do you think the desire for the Samaritan to do good come from?
In verse 28 Jesus says, "Do this and you will live." Now look at v. 37. According to v. 37 what is, "this" when Jesus says, "do this"?
Hopefully you answered, "Mercy".
Do you think you can "do" mercy without being merciful?
Is "doing" and "being" in this passage the same thing?
Heart Question:
Take a moment to think about what characteristics you have.
Are they a mixture of the Robber the priest and Levite and the Samaritan? What are they?
In order to make a difference in what you "do"(giving, using belonging for good, and spending time for good) what characteristics need to change?
